Over

Amjad Hashem is a Syrian-Dutch visual artist based in Amsterdam whose layered acrylic paintings explore migration, memory, identity, loss, and renewal. His works place silhouettes, animals, and belongings within fragmented architectural spaces, where desaturated colours, subdued light, and textured surfaces create stillness and psychological tension.

Rather than depicting conflict directly, Hashem focuses on its remnants: deserted interiors, interrupted lives, and uncertain gestures. Between Dust and Light brings these themes together, using residue as a symbol of erosion and loss, and light as a sign of presence, resilience, continuity, and the possibility of beginning anew.
