Design Project for Casa Perú – Amsterdam

Artistic signage on glazed ceramic tiles
Client: Casa Perú Peruvian Restaurant
Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Year: 2025
Artist: Jason Ayala Pacheco – Kitsch & Huis

This visual piece was created as the main façade sign for Casa Perú, a well-known Peruvian restaurant in Amsterdam serving traditional cuisine since 1994. The design draws from the vibrant and expressive aesthetics of Peruvian “chicha” culture, a graphic art style known for its bold typography, saturated colors, and festive popular roots.

The composition fuses iconic elements of Amsterdam's architecture with the dynamic visual language of chicha art, using a color palette chosen by the client to reflect both the Peruvian identity and its harmony within the Dutch urban landscape. The artwork was printed on glazed ceramic tiles, blending artisanal tradition with weather-resistant functionality.

Beyond its aesthetic, the piece proudly announces a message of culture, flavor, and Peruvian presence in the heart of Europe.

Technique: digitally designed, printed on glazed ceramic tile
Inspiration: chicha posters and Peruvian popular art
Purpose: permanent promotional signage for store front
